What is the average file size of images produced by the KODAK Picture Saver Scanner?

Average file size depends on many factors including, but not limited to;

  • Original photo size
  • Format output type
  • Compression level
  • DPI

The approximate file size of a 4" x 6" photograph scanned at 300 DPI and output in uncompressed TIFF format:

[4" (height) x 300 (DPI)] x [6" (width) x 300 (DPI)] x 24 bit

= 51840000 bits

= 6.2MB (1 MB = 8,388,608 b)

Depending upon the amount of JPEG compression used by the software to convert the image to a JPEG format:

Anything between .1 MB (high compression) - 3 MB (low compression)
