How To | Reversing the Original Install Set-up for Scanning Order of Photos with PS50/PS80

Learn how to change the default value of your Picture Saver Scanning Software's behavior to flip the sequence photos are scanned.

The default value of the Kodak Picture Saver Software used with the Kodak Picture Saver Scanners is to automatically flip the order of the photos scanned. This behavior is based upon the operational theory that most batches of scanning will be accomplished in a single pass and since photos are feed from the bottom of a stack. By including this feature, the software flips around from the order to try and reinstate the same sequence of the original stack of photos being scanned in the order from top - to - bottom.

For example; a stack of 5 photos placed into the ADF tray of the Kodak Picture Saver Scanner will scan; Photo 5 (bottom of stack), Photo 4, Photo 3, Photo 2, Photo 1 (top of stack). When the job is paused, the Kodak Picture Saver Software will automatically reverse the order in preparation for output; Photo1 (top of stack), Photo 2, Photo 3, Photo 4, Photo 5 (bottom of stack).

However, when the operator pauses the scanning process the software does not realize there are more photos coming and proceeds with executing this function automatically. This means the order of photos scanned will auto reverse between pauses in the process of digitization and can cause the output order not to be in any particular order scanned. For some users, this doesn't seem to be an issue.

This Tech Tip details the method to override this feature. The result is photographs will remain ready to be output in the order they are scanned. With this override; a stack of 5 photos placed into the ADF tray of the Kodak Picture Saver Scanner will scan; Photo 5 (bottom of stack), Photo 4, Photo 3, Photo 2, Photo 1 (top of stack). When the job is paused, the Kodak Picture Saver Software takes no action and will simply add the next stack of photos to the existing digitized ones in the continuous order of them being scanned.
